How To Backup Your Facebook Timeline, Photos and Status Updates

| Posted in , | Posted on

Facebook has become a part of daily life for millions of people, many of whom use the service to store photos and contact information. Facebook has become like a digital scrapbook of our lives, but unfortunately, we have very little control over the information we store on Facebook. At any time, the site could change their policies and delete or alter our stored content.

To create a backup of your Facebook status updates, timelines, friends list and contact information, try SocialSafe.

Click Free Download to start using Social Safe.

The software installs with Adobe Air. Click Open, then Install when prompted.

Once installed, click the Settings icon to set up a profile.

Agree to the terms of use, then click the Facebook icon.

You must give Social Safe permission to access your Facebook account. Click Allow.

You are now ready to sync your content. Click the Sync button.

After a few minutes, your content is ready to view. Click the View Backup button.

Only Journal View will work in the free version, and it did not work well at all in our test. It is very clear Social Safe wants us to pay for the standard version of this app, as the free version’s features are terribly limited. If you use Facebook as your main form of communication with the world, it may be worth the $3.95 fee to use the software as an automatic backup. We, however, are aggravated with the sluggishness of the software and the stingily limited features in the free version.
